Rayat Bahra University (RBU) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qvolv Private Limited and Focalyst Private Limited to introduce advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality (VR) training at their campus in Mohali. This partnership will establish a laboratory for AI and VR applications, enhancing RBU’s resources for skill-based learning and research. The project aligns with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship’s flagship initiatives and aims to foster educational development in emerging technologies among students across disciplines.
The MoU outlines specific roles for each organization: RBU will provide necessary resources to build the AI/VR lab, while Focalyst will oversee the proposal’s implementation to ensure students gain practical skills. Meanwhile, Qvolv will furnish the technological platform and facilities for the lab's effective operation. This lab is expected to serve as a hands-on learning environment, giving students access to new tools and applications. The setup will benefit not only RBU’s student body but also participants from other universities, preparing them for AI and VR careers.
This collaboration provides students and faculty with various opportunities for research and project development in AR and VR applications. Dr. Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chancellor of RBU, emphasized that the university will offer financial assistance for internships and employment, thereby enhancing career readiness. The lab is anticipated to enrich the academic offerings at RBU, giving students practical experience with advanced technology while expanding their employment prospects.
Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Registrar at RBU, along with senior representatives from Qvolv and Focalyst, attended the signing event, which also included university administrators and faculty members. Through this partnership, RBU aims to integrate emerging technologies into its curriculum, underscoring its commitment to forward-thinking education and skill enhancement in line with industry demands.
