airBaltic Pilot Academy welcomed 12 cadets into its second group to begin studies at its Pilot Academy in Latvia. The cadets will become airBaltic pilots after completing the two-year program.

The airline hopes this pilot-training program it launched last year will help it secure more Baltic pilots, and says it saw a tremendous increase in the number of applications received for this second group – with more than 450 potential candidates applying, 150 of whom came from Estonia and Lithuania.

airBaltic senior vice president of Flight Operations, Pauls Cālītis says, “We have worked a lot so that young people in the Baltics would find out about the Pilot Academy and realize that becoming a pilot is an attainable target.”

airBaltic Pilot Academy is accepting applications until November 5, 2018 for the third group of cadets, which will begin in January 2019.
