3D perception Inc. (3DP) is proud to announce its 20 year anniversary. Since 1997 3DP has steadily innovated and grown into a global leader in visual display technology, with offices in Norway, the United States and China.
The company began when Knut Krogstad, co-founder and CEO, led the development of the world's first digital projector capable of warping and blending for curved-screen, multi-channel, simulator displays. The early success of this product led to later innovations that disintegrated these features from the projector, and in 2001 were built into a separate display processor, CompactUTM™, opening up the selection of projector models to a much wider catalog. The market responded very favorably, and this model of allowing the simulator display system to operate as a discrete sub-system was quickly adopted.
3DP built on this trend, developing several supportive products including the 2005 launch of their now iconic Aurora™ Click-Dome, with the industry's fastest and most precise automatic image alignment technology, WarpSync™, built right into the screen. In 2010, the company released their next-generation display processor, nBox™, and unified their display product ecosystem under the moniker, Northstar™.
In 2016 3DP launched a line of pre-configured turn-key Northstar systems, ideally packaged around certain applications such as fast-jet or large field of view helicopter. Now with over 10,000 visual channels fielded globally, 2017 marks the company's 20th year of continual innovation and evolution.
To prepare the organization for further growth, in 2017, 3DP appointed two new senior level managers, Anders Fagerhaug and Cato Mortensen, both with many years of experience in the simulation industry.
