Adaptive Immersion won first place and $60,000 in the Navy’s Surface Warfare Combat Training Continuum (SWCTC) Prize Challenge last month for its innovative Tactical Readiness Intelligence and Data Enhancement for Naval Training (TRIDENT) platform, a solution for measuring and enhancing naval tactical training performance.
“Our TRIDENT platform is revolutionizing how the Navy measures tactical training performance,” said Phillip Mangos, Ph.D., Adaptive Immersion’s CEO and chief scientist. “For example, TRIDENT’s AI-powered bias detection algorithms ensure objective performance evaluation to give sailors accurate feedback, and its automated capture of critical scenario metadata and context provide surface warfighters with further data for constructive debriefing and improvement. It’s features like these that make their ‘reps and sets’ in training more productive and take their readiness and proficiency to the next level.”
Additional capabilities that TRIDENT introduces include integration between at-sea training events and shore-based analysis, and advanced behavioral observation analytics powered by custom large language models. An offline/online data management system also supports fleet-wide deployment.
Adaptive Immersion will demonstrate TRIDENT at this year’s Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference in Orlando, Florida, 2-5 December. Attendees can experience this solution at Adaptive Immersion’s Booth 269, and at the Central Florida Tech Grove's exhibition space, Booth 141.
The Central Florida Tech Grove hosted the challenge in collaboration with NavalX, the Office of Naval Research, and the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division. The SWCTC initiative represents a crucial effort by the Navy in developing data-driven training across its surface force. Participants submitted their solutions that Navy subject matter experts evaluated, judged and ranked. The contest’s goal was to identify innovative, industry solutions to improve the Navy's approach toward assessing and analyzing readiness, military training, and human performance.
"SWCTC is a data-driven approach to simultaneously deepen, broaden and synergize training across the surface force,” said Navy Rear Adm. Wilson Marks, commander of the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center. “This prize challenge demonstrated the potential of leveraging ingenuity and creativity of industry partners to help us identify how best to improve the maritime warfare proficiency of our tactical watchstanders.”
