L3 Technologies won a U.S. Army contract to provide its next-generation WESCAM MX™-10D electro-optical/infrared and laser designator (EO/IR/LD) sensor suite to support the Army’s Modernization Strategy. The five-year contract is worth up to $454-million, with an additional five-year option.
The WESCAM imaging and targeting turrets are modernized Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems that provide situational awareness to customers to help with regional and global threats. The ISR systems operate from the Army’s RQ-7Bv2 Tactical Unmanned Air Systems Shadow (TUAS) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and give members of an air-ground maneuver team advanced capability to collect critical information.
Corporate Senior Vice President and President of ISR Systems, Jeff Miller says the contract expands L3’s growth opportunities for international EO/IR users considering surveillance and targeting upgrades.
