FlightSafetyInternational announced a significant expansion of the training programs itoffers for the Sikorsky S-70 helicopter.
FlightSafetynow offers FAA-approved IFR training in a Sikorsky S-70 Level D qualifiedsimulator. This includes unrestricted S-70 type rating and ATP courses as wellas a 61.58 pilot in command proficiency check. A new FAA-approved S-70A VFRvariant course is also offered.
TheS70 and S-70i training programs and simulators are designed to increase pilot proficiencyand enhance safety in both routine and unexpected operating conditions. Thesimulators are capable of replicating a wide variety of scenarios that enable pilotsto experience situations that would be too dangerous, too impractical orimpossible to practice in an aircraft. This includes major systems failures,heavy icing and power loss under hot and high conditions.
Thesimulators are now configured for firefighting scenarios. This new capabilityincludes simulated belly tank/snorkel and bambi bucket external loads withemergency jettison. The VITAL 1100 visual system installed in the S-70isimulator presents visual scenes that accurately depict firefighting scenariosthat can be tailored to the specific area of operations. The simulators arealso equipped for night vision goggle training.
Veteranswith Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk experience can now earn an S-70 FAA type ratingand ATP through an abbreviated course. Funding for these courses may beavailable through the Veterans Education Assistance Program offered by the U.S.Department of Veterans Affairs.
