Trideum Corporation has been selected to support the U.S. Army’s Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Program (SHARP) Academy through the development and facilitation of prevention training and education for SHARP professionals.
The SHARP curriculum is in step with the U.S. Army’s strategy to bolster prevention efforts after establishing an effective reporting and response program over the last decade.
According to a statement from Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy and chief of staff Gen. James McConville, sexual assault among service members is “deliberate fratricide that tears at the fabric of our organization and erodes readiness.”
“Research shows that implementing prevention-based programs are a crucial step in eliminating sexual assault in the U.S. Army,” said Van Sullivan, Trideum Corporation president. “Trideum is confident the training support package we develop and the prevention curriculum we design, develop, update, and instruct, will help reduce this terrible crime in the ranks, and we welcome this opportunity to help bring change.”
Founded upon DoD’s “Prevention Practitioner Curriculum Narrative” and the U.S. Army’s “Prevention Strategy,” the curriculum will focus on developing prevention-based programs within the SHARP Academy.
Trideum is teamed with Dr. Dorothy Edwards, founder and current president of Alteristic and one of the nation’s leading experts on harassment and interpersonal violence prevention, to develop a robust curriculum for U.S. Army SHARP professionals.
Dr. Edwards holds a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Texas Women’s University and specializes in primary prevention. She provides training and consultation in power-based personal violence, workplace harassment, capacity building, program implementation, strategic planning, and community mobilization. Over her 25-year career, Dr. Edwards’ work has been the focus of multiple studies that show statistically significant reductions in interpersonal violence.
Trideum will design prevention-based curriculum for presentation during the SHARP Academy resident courses as part of a train-the-trainer program. The curriculum will include instruction, instructor observation, and professional assessments for the SHARP Career Course, SHARP Program Manager Course, and the SHARP Trainer Course. The materials will also facilitate education and training for the broader SHARP workforce, which will establish prevention-based programs within their respective units across the U.S. Army.
“Trideum stands with the U.S. Army in developing tangible prevention programs to effectively decrease sexual assault in the ranks,” said Sullivan.
Trideum was awarded the contract to provide the curriculum under the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center indefinite-delivery, indefinite quantity support services contract.
