Prime contractor CymSTAR has awarded Aechelon Technology Inc. a contract for the Marine Common Aircrew Trainer (MCAT) Tech Refresh Program for a large number of Image Generators and Databases based in Arizona, North Carolina, California, and Japan to meet the United States Marine Corps' (USMC) aviation training requirements.

The training devices are located at: Marine Corps Air Station, MATSS Miramar, California; Marine Corps Air Station, MATSS Camp Pendleton, California; Marine Corps Air Station, MATSS New River, North Carolina; Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona; and Marine Corps Air Station, MATSS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan.

USMC aircrew has the capability to train rear cabin aerial gunnery, combat search and rescue, and vertical replenishment for three different platforms in one trainer: CH-53E Super Stallion, UH-1Y Venom, and MV-22B Osprey. Each system features a high channel count, modernized in more compact configurations to the pC-NOVA Nucleus 8-GPU Image Generator units.

As a multi-mission, day/night, night vision system trainer, Aechelon Technology will supply its pC-NOVA Nucleus 8-GPU Image Generators, a true multi-spectral multi-channel compact image generator featuring Multi-GPU NVIDIA Professional with a reduced footprint. The Aechelon Nucleus combines C4ISR grade GPU-based simulation of OTW, NVG, EO/IR.

The system integrates a full-resolution worldwide 3D visual and sensor database with extensive domestic and foreign areas of interest. This Global database has been deployed and being used on other DoD programs without the need of down-sampling, de-rating, or modification—thus ensuring complete correlation and commonality with other U.S. DoD devices also utilizing Aechelon Technology Image Generators.
