Boeing has invested in Mountain View, California-based digital educational programme provider Singularity University (SU) as part of the OEM’s commitment to furthering its digital transformation.
SU builds the capability of individuals and organisations to learn, connect and innovate with breakthrough solutions by teaching them how to use accelerating technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics and digital biology. Its global community spans more than 100 countries and includes entrepreneurs, governments, investors and academic institutions.
The new partnership could include customised educational programs for Boeing employees and the addition of the OEM's technical experts to SU's faculty.
“Boeing's commitment to continuous learning and innovation aligns with SU's mission to educate individuals and organisations globally on how to use exponential technologies to tackle humanity's grand challenges,” declared SU's CEO, Rob Nail. “At SU, we see that the world's biggest problems are also often the biggest business opportunities, so we are extremely excited to partner with companies like Boeing that have the capabilities to make a true difference at scale.”
On 15 February, SU closed US$32 million in Series B funding co-led by WestRiver Group and Boeing with participation from Silicon Valley Bank, TAL Education Group, Mukita and PeopleFund. Bethany Tate Cornell, VP of Leadership, Learning and Organisational Capability at Boeing, will now join SU’s Board of Directors.
