Joby Aviation, Inc. announced its Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2024 Shareholder Letter, detailing the company’s operational and financial results for the period ending December 31, 2024.

The company reported record progress in its efforts to certify its electric aircraft for commercial passenger use in the U.S. Joby has successfully completed the fourth of five stages required for certification and expects to begin Type Inspection Authorization (TIA) flight testing within the next 12 months.

In the defense sector, Joby delivered its second aircraft to Edwards Air Force Base as part of its ongoing partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense. The company now has a total of five aircraft in its flight test fleet, including a hydrogen-hybrid variant.

Joby also made significant strides toward its first passenger operations, planning to deliver an aircraft to Dubai in mid-2025 for flight testing ahead of its first commercial passenger flights, expected in late 2025 or early 2026.

The company secured over $1 billion in additional funding and commitments in the fourth quarter. Joby also became the first company to fly an electric air taxi as part of Korea’s K-UAM Grand Challenge.

JoeBen Bevirt, Founder and CEO of Joby Aviation, said: “The next 12 months mark a critical inflection point, not just for Joby, but for our entire industry, as we look ahead to carrying our first passengers, and I’m proud that Joby continues to lead the way towards this new era of flight.”
