United Airlines has become the world’s largest airline by fleet size, reaching 1,000 mainline aircraft. This rapid expansion, supported by one of the industry’s largest aircraft order pipelines, suggests a rising demand for pilot and crew training. United’s fleet now surpasses its closest competitors, with Delta Air Lines operating 985 aircraft and American Airlines managing 978.

In 2025, United expects deliveries of Airbus A321neos, A321XLRs, and multiple Boeing 787 variants. Competitors are also growing, with Delta adding Airbus A330-900neos and A350-900s, while American anticipates new Airbus A321XLRs and Boeing 787-9s. As airlines expand, training programs may need to scale accordingly to support the growing workforce.
