Indian and US armed forces are participating in Exercise Tiger Triumph, a bilateral, tri-service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Amphibious Exercise.
The Harbor Phase of the exercise was conducted at Visakhapatnam, on India’s Eastern Coast from 18 - 25 March. The Sea phase scheduled from 26 - 31 March, will feature the setting up a joint command and control center and a joint relief and medical camp by both participating nations.
The Indian Navy’s Landing Platform Dock, Landing Ship Tanks (Large), their integral landing craft and helicopters, guided missile Frigate and Boeing P-8I maritime patrol aircraft are taking part in the exercises.
An Indian Army infantry battalion group including mechanized forces has been deployed with support from the Indian Air Force, which has deployed transport aircraft, helicopters and a Rapid Action Medical Team (RAMT). Special Forces units from all three arms are also taking part.
The US Navy is deploying USS Somerset (LPD 25) a landing platform dock with its integral landing craft air cushions, helicopters along with USS Halsey (DDG 97), maritime reconnaissance aircraft and transport aircraft. The US Marines are also taking part.
