Bassel Ounah has integrated virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) into marine exploration to enhance diver training. His work focuses on simulating underwater conditions to help divers prepare for deep-sea exploration in a safe, controlled environment.

As a free-diving expert, Ounah uses these immersive technologies to train divers in critical skills such as breath control and endurance before actual dives. Beyond training, Ounah utilizes VR to highlight marine environmental issues like pollution and coral bleaching. Through collaborations with institutions like the University of Salford, he has refined these technologies for educational and conservation efforts.

Ounah also contributed to Apnea Zone, a Dubai-based free-diving center that combines specialized training with ecological education. His campaigns, such as “Drops in the Oceans,” use VR to simulate environmental degradation and raise awareness for ocean conservation.
