LG Electronics is set to launch a commercially available extended reality (XR) device next year, according to The Guru.
Initially developed under the Chief Strategy Officer, progress led to the creation of the XR Business Department within the HE Business Division. This move aimed to expedite development and visibility of the XR business.
In contrast, Apple is commencing pre-sales of the XR headset Vision Pro, anticipating 400,000 units shipped this year. Samsung is collaborating with Google and Qualcomm for XR device development, with Qualcomm unveiling the Snapdragon XR2+ 2nd generation platform. LG's entry suggests a resurgence in the XR market, projected to grow from $41.56 billion in 2022 to $859.35 billion in 2030, as per Presence Research.
