Marco van Sterkenburg, CEO at Drillster, will open the second conference day with his presentation titled: ‘The urgent need to redesign training methods after COVID’.

The COVID-19 crisis has huge implications for the airline industry. Besides the financial losses, the pandemic can impact the proficiency of pilots and cabin attendants, leading to undesirable incidents. Because if they don’t use knowledge or practice skills, then the ability to use them while performing a job declines… and fast. While the industry is slowly opening up, new lockdowns are lurking around every corner. There are plenty of obstacles to overcome. Fortunately, airlines, and also aviation authorities, realize that now is the right moment to reconsider how crew members remain proficient throughout the year.

The presentation will touch on four of the toughest training challenges after COVID, including continuous change, loss of proficiency, no budget for new training programs, and which digital training format or tool to choose.
