Azree Nazri, president of the Artificial Intelligence Society Malaysia, has urged police to train officers on AI before using it in crime investigations. As Malaysia targets AI for combating commercial crime, Azree emphasized the need for officers to understand AI's functions to avoid misinterpretation or over-reliance.

He suggested collaborating with universities to create AI models, focusing on money laundering and cyber fraud cases. Azree also proposed an AI scam alert system for online banking. Former police chief Ramli Yoosuf stressed the importance of staying ahead of criminals with the right tools. Malaysia reported a 48% rise in commercial crime cases, particularly online fraud, with losses over 500 million ringgit.
