A recent HRD Asia report highlights a significant gap in how Southeast Asian businesses are equipping employees to effectively use generative AI (GenAI). While adoption rates are high, with 62% of workers integrating AI into their routines, 40% of employees lack proper training. This training shortfall could impact productivity and hinder employees' ability to fully leverage the technology.

Roy Otsuka, VP of APAC at CoachHub, points out that 42% of employees have not received formal AI training. He stresses that without proper training, many workers are unable to fully utilize AI’s potential, despite widespread use.

AI’s role in automating tasks and improving productivity is already evident in sectors like HR, where 75% of professionals now use AI-powered tools. However, Otsuka notes that training is often limited to leadership teams, leaving frontline workers with fewer opportunities for development.

To address this, Otsuka calls for continuous, personalized learning initiatives that view AI as a tool for enhancement, not job replacement, to ensure all employees can harness AI’s capabilities effectively.
