In South Korea, drivers aged 75 and older renewing their licenses must take a VR-based self-assessment test, the government announced. The system simulates real driving conditions, helping seniors evaluate their skills.
The National Police Agency will pilot the program this year, encouraging those with declining abilities to surrender their licenses.
To enhance safety, the South Korean government will set standards to prevent pedal errors and expand protective infrastructure, including sidewalks, smart crosswalks, and pedestrian-priority zones.
