KGI-to-develop-new-medical-school-2

Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) plans to open a new School of Medicine in Southern California that should help meet the demand for more primary care physicians in that area, according to the feasibility study by strategic consultant Tripp Umbach.

The medical school plans to serve as a national model in preparing physicians to practice using evolving scientific research and population health management.

KGI President Sheldon Schuster says the medical school will bring world-class medical training to future physicians, which will create better health services and improved access to care for the community.

A donation will fund the first phase of the medical school and the recruitment and hiring of the founding dean. The development staff and the dean will campaign to fund the facilities and faculty required to meet the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation standards.
